Director

Julie Matheson began her career in financial services in 1987.

After gaining experience as a Business Development Manager with Scottish Amicable in Western Australia, and RetireInvest in Sydney, Julie completed her studies to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER in 1992.

Julie’s career led her to be a director of her own financial services business from 1999 to 2010.  During this time Julie was active member of the Financial Planning Assocation, on committees for education, compliance and membership services.

In 2006, Julie was voted by her peers to be a national director and board member of the Financial Planning Association.  Julie was re-elected again in 2010 and 2013.

Julie is a current CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, and board member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia.

Julie has served or is serving on the following Board Committees:
  • Audit and Risk Management;
  • Investment Sub-Committee for the management of the Association’s investments assets and working capital;
  • Working Group for the development of an Example Statement of Advice (SOA) for members in consultation with ASIC and other industry bodies; and
  • currently Chair of the FPA’s Professional Designations Committee which is responsible for the promoting the Financial Planning Standards Board’s worldwide professional standards in financial planning and education standards for Certified Financial Planners in Australia.
During Julie’s time, the board has been responsible for transforming the Association to focus on degree qualified members, practitioner only representation, consumer best interests and a sustainable business with strong member reserves.

In 2016, Julie will be promoting the FPA Congress to be held in Perth, November 2016, where financial planners around the world are invited to attend advanced education workshops to enhance and promote the profession of financial planning.
